As an outside reader (and apparently I have two or three of those), most of the people I mention in my posts probably won’t be people you know. As such, some clarification.
(This used to be my “blogroll” page, but then I got tired of it. This is more informative anyway.)

Real Life

There are two real-life friends I’m likely to mention. These are Coren (real name Frederik; his blog is named after his erstwhile Myst (and later paganism) website, the Guild of Discoverers) and Barbara.

Coren and I have been in the same school since elementary school, but we’ve only really been friends since we also ended up in the same class in (our equivalent of) 8th grade (that time we had to work on the same drawing of the elementary school in 1st grade aside; we were the only two people in the school who could draw worth anything).
Right now he’s a third-year language something something student at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Catholic University Leuven, though this is also the name of the French-language one in Louvain-La-Neuve, which split off from the KUL half a century ago). Most of his classes are at the Faculty of Arts, where I spend most of my Mondays reading and drinking their coffee, so we tend to hang out then.
Oh, and if you see me talk about Jennifer, that’s his girlfriend. She lives in France.

I met Barbara on my second pass through (our equivalent of) 10th grade. She wasn’t very interesting then, and she didn’t think I was very interesting then, so we didn’t really talk much. I introduced Coren to her in 12th grade because he was interested in paganism at that point and she had told me she was a witch. I still didn’t really talk to her, but she ended up being his best friend.
Now she’s also a third-year language something something student at the KUL, and she shares some classes with Coren (he’s following English and French, she’s English and German), so she often tags along when Coren and I do things.
(The reason she’s in the same year as Coren despite being a year younger is because Coren spent the first year after high school trying out Civil Engineering. He didn’t like it, so he switched to language something something.)

Oh, and there’s Quhan (real name Stijn) as well, I guess. He fell off the internet and I haven’t talked to him since we went to see some movies last July, though, so I dunno. He’s a high school friend too.

I also have some family, but as far as I know, none of them have websites or blogs.

Rota Hall

These are the people that mostly hang out in our IRC channel, #rotahall on ZiRC. I met most of them through Kingdom of Loathing (more specifically, through the #radio-kol channel on the same network), but I guess I quit playing that.

Mai (real name Maia) is my ex-girlfriend. She’s a Jewish girl from New York, going through her first year of college at McGill in Canada. She broke up with me in September.

Skatje is my other ex-girlfriend and probably my best friend right now. She lives and goes to college in Minnesota.

Terras (real name apparently Sunny) is some kind of foreigner who lives in Canadu where he gets mugged a lot. I’m not sure what he’s up to, really. He’s a 4chan person.

Nafan (well, Nathan; also known as CrackerOfDeath, Cawd, Codu, or anything of that variety) is a fatty. He used to be a halfop in #radio-kol, but then he found his self-respect. He’s still the leader of our KoL clan, I think. He lives in Michigan somewhere. If he suddenly disappears from the internet, it’s probably because he kidnapped and raped some 6-year-old.

Qow (real name Kim; also known as future_cow) is a loli azn from Canadu. He has hawt loli friends but doesn’t approve of us stalking them.

Rednwhite (real name Mitch) is someone. He’s not very interesting.

Dotts is someone else. He also isn’t very interesting.

There are more, no doubt. They’ll be added to this list as they come up in my posts.

Other

Rouge8 (real name Andy) is someone I met through SWBHG two or three years ago. He doesn’t like IRC, I think, so we mostly keep in touch over G-Talk to talk about politics and whatnot. He lives in Illinois, I’m pretty sure. Elvy/Bryana/Nicole is a friend of his I don’t talk to enough for her to deserve her own paragraph.

PZ Myers is Skatje’s dad. I mostly refer to him as “Skatje’s dad”, so I’m not sure why he’d be in this list. Also I don’t think I’ve ever actually talked to him.

Ros (whose blog apparently doesn’t exist anymore; he has a Livejournal, but I refuse to link to Livejournal) is someone I met through the #pharyngula channel, also on ZiRC. He’s the son of some author, and has a pet lesbian called Leah.

I think that’s about it. More people will be added as needed, no doubt.
